ESSENTIAL UNDERSTANDING
Dividing rational numbers is similar to dividing integers. The sign of the quotient depends on the signs of the dividend and divisor.
I can understand how the signs of integers when multiplying relate to dividing integers.
I can extend my knowledge to determine the signs when dividing rational numbers.
The same rules for dividing integers apply to dividing rational numbers.
When dividing two rational numbers:
- If the signs of the dividend and divisor are the same, the quotient is positive.
- If the signs of the dividend and divisor are different, the quotient is negative.
